32. To Rome with Love (2012)

So my friend got tickets to a press screening of this film and I was her plus one. I’m not a big Woody Allen fan but I adored Midnight in Paris and while this wasn’t as good I definitely wasn’t disappointed as it’s much funnier (I actually laughed at loud in places which is unusual for me), utterly absurd and it had shots of all of the lovely places I visited in Rome. Only problem I had with it was the script, which was really stilted and unnatural in places and some of the acting was really hammy *cough* Alison Pill (I usually love you but gurl..)

They are your friends and I have to admit I’m not quite as taken with them as you are.

Nostalgia is denial - denial of the painful present… the name for this denial is golden age thinking - the erroneous notion that a different time period is better than the one ones living in - its a flaw in the romantic imagination of those people who find it difficult to cope with the present.

15. Midnight in Paris (2011)

This is a very good film with a great premise and script. There’s so many lines in it which resonate with me and I just love the whole idea of going back in time to your Golden Age and hanging with your idols.
